Mahjong Sets

Mahjong sets come in many different forms, materials, sizes and accessories. For the mahjong enthusiast, picking a good majhong set is important. Mahjong sets don't all have the same number of tiles. When choosing a set, be sure to check how many tiles the set contains because many sets will have extra blank tiles to replace lost tiles in your set.
The Basic Mahjong Set
A basic mahjong set normally conists of a a majong case, 146 tiles with 2 blank tiles, and a pair of dice. The tiles are usually plastic or fiberglass and are dual colored witha whtie face and a green back. You can find tiles with painted characters or engraved characters. Picking tiles with with bright colors and an engraved symbols will be better. Most basic mahjong sets will come in vinyl type cases, but you can find some sets in aluminum cases if you want a more durable case.
The mahjong tiles come in many sizes, but normally you will find them in small, medium, and large. A large type tile will be about 1.25 inches by 1.5 inches and .75 inches thick. A medium tile measures about .75" x 1".

If you are looking for a mahjong set that is unique and with extra bonuses, take a look at a deluxe mahjong set. Many mahjong sets are made with a chinese antique style. The cases are well designed with chinese symbols which give it a look like it came from the era of the chinese dynasties.
